What edging should I use for a bocce court?

Steel edging in 1/4 in x 5 in sections with tapered stakes gives the crispest permanent edge and comes in black, brown, green, or weathering-steel finishes. Aluminum is rust-proof and easier to curve. Timber side boards in teak, ipe, or ground-contact lumber are the traditional choice and the only option that supports genuine bank shots. Masonry curbs cost the most and last the longest, and make sense when the court is integrated into patios or seat walls. Order by perimeter - 2 x (length + width) - and add about 10% for corners and cuts.
